Before every Speaker Ignite workshop begins, there is a moment I always pause to appreciate.
The room is quiet.
The slides are ready.
Chairs wait to be filled with stories, fears, and possibilities.
And I find myself wondering how each person in the room will grow over the next few days.
The Speaker Ignite Programme is the culmination of more than 16 years of research into the art of speaking and the science of influential communication.
What began in 2011 as a module in a Graduate Workplace Readiness Programme has evolved into the immersive programme it is today — designed to help professionals communicate with clarity, confidence, and influence.
Yet before the frameworks and techniques begin, something deeper must happen.

One delegate once shared:
“I enjoyed the first day when we did the psychological aspect. That was the turning point for me. I had to embrace my fear, letting go and accepting it as a privilege.”
Another said something I hear often:
“It was comforting to know that I am not the only one struggling with public speaking.”
Public speaking fear can feel isolating — until people realise it is shared.
I’ve watched delegates arrive shy, uncertain, and hesitant to speak:
“I was very timid, I was shy. It is something I was accustomed to. But coming out of this, I feel more empowered. I feel more knowledgeable.”
These moments remind me why this work matters. Because communication is no longer a “soft skill.” It is a strategic leadership capability.
And every workshop begins with the same quiet promise:
Someone in this room is about to discover their voice.
