Your Words Are Programming Your Future (Whether You Realise It or Not)

There’s something most people underestimate…

Not their intelligence.
Not their experience.
Not even their confidence.

They underestimate their words.

The Hidden Dialogue Running Your Life

During “Your Interview with the Mirror”, I introduced a simple but powerful idea:

Your brain operates like a search engine.

At any given moment, you are either:

  • Asking yourself a question
  • Or making a statement

And here’s the key…

The quality of your life is shaped by the quality of your internal dialogue.

The Two Types of Language

In the talk, I break this down into two categories:

Empowering Language:
  • “I choose to”
  • “I commit to”
  • “I can”
  • “I am”
Disempowering Language:
  • “I should”
  • “I need to”
  • “I want to”

At first glance, the difference seems subtle.
But in practice? It’s everything.

The Book Launch Moment

When I was preparing to launch The Contract with Yourself, I faced constant rejection.

Questions like:

  • “Is this your first book?”
  • “Who is your publisher?”

Each one felt like an attempt to disqualify me.
What kept me going wasn’t external validation.
It was internal language.

The Science Behind It

Your brain processes information through emotional and logical pathways.

If your language is fear-based…
Your actions will be hesitation-based.

If your language is solution-based…
Your actions will be progress-based.

The Question You Need to Ask

Are your internal questions:

  • Expanding your thinking?
  • Or reinforcing your limitations?

“Rational thinking allows you to act with intent.”

Want to take control of your internal dialogue?
