Confidence is often perceived as something people either have or do not have. Yet within this programme, many participants discovered that confidence can be developed — particularly when leaders are given the right environment to practise, reflect, and grow.

Several delegates entered the programme describing themselves as introverted or hesitant to speak in front of others. The early stages of the journey focused on strengthening communication skills through the Speaker Ignite Programme, where participants practised structuring ideas, engaging audiences, and presenting with clarity.

For many, this became a defining turning point.

One delegate shared a powerful reflection about the moment they realised they could stand in front of a group and speak without fear of judgement. That simple realisation became a significant confidence breakthrough.

Another participant described how the programme helped them become more comfortable presenting to people they had only just met. Initially, they entered the room feeling reserved and uncertain. “Dancing blindfolded took away the feeling of being self-conscious. I felt free and able to be my authentic self without worrying about how others might judge me.”

Another participant reflected that once the blindfolds were removed, the energy in the room had changed. People were more relaxed, more open, and more willing to connect with one another.

Moments like these reveal something important about leadership development.

Confidence does not grow when leaders feel they must perform perfectly. It grows when they are encouraged to explore, experiment, and discover their authentic voice.
